NASCAR DRIVER FINED $5,000 FOR SAFETY VIOLATION ON RACETRACK

Xfinity Series driver Joey Gase was fined $5,000 by NASCAR for a safety penalty at Richmond Raceway. He threw the bumper cover from his No. 35 Ford at Dawson Cram's vehicle.

Gase ultimately decided to appeal that decision. On Wednesday, National Motorsports Appeals Panel announced that Gase lost his appeal.

The Appeals Panel said that "NASCAR was correct in ruling that driver Joey Gase put himself in a dangerous position on the racetrack."

This technically might not be the end of this situation. Gase could appeal this decision to then National Motorsports Final Appeals Officer.

When asked about this incident on April 3, Gase made it pretty clear that he wasn't pleased with Cram.

"He didn't lift down the whole straightaway until I was wrecked, so it was pretty uncalled for," Gase said. "It was a huge surprise. I think I gave Dawson his first-ever Xfinity start. He comes over, borrows tools from us all the time.

"He just lost his head like he does, unfortunately. If you look every week, he has speed what he's driving, but he shoots himself in the foot every week. One of these days he's going to figure it out or he ain't going to have a ride no more."

The Xfinity Series will return this Saturday with the A-Game 200 at Dover International Speedway.
